December 16, 2005 CHRISTMAS “BREAK”

December 16, 2005

I am happy to report that my fall travel schedule is done. I have a few weeks to enjoy life with my family.

In 2005, I traveled to 18 states to do 67 engagements and was gone from home 104 nights.

It has been a blessing to be among teens and adults, sharing faith. I get inspired when I meet so many cool people who are working on their relationships with God in the real world. It makes me want to be a better man.

Some highlights from my travels:

+ Conference theme of the Year: “Git “R Done–for the Glory of God” (April 2005, Wichita Kansas)

+ Having a Bishop take my bags to the airport (Bishop Greg Aymond, Austin TX)

+ Baton Rouge LA (Nov 2005) Youth minister attending a talk on life’s call makes appointment with diocesan vocation director to enter seminary.

+ Vocations Rallies for jr. high and high school students in the dioceses of Houma-Thibodaux (LA) and Austin TX

+ Tee shirts: here’s my first sale to Pat Sheil from the diocese of Davensport IA

+ Vision Program, Notre Dame: Always a big deal for me. Plus a new tradition: the Brotherhood of Bowling.

+ NCYC and getting to do a workshop with Anna Scally.

+ Speaking to my daughter’s school faculty.

+Retreats with adults in youth ministry: always so humbling.

+”Returning” to New Orleans to lead CLI.

+Over 200 e-mails after Katrina hits my state (offers to house my family, offers to donate money and assistance).

I am so blessed. Thanks to the people who’ve shared their time, stories, laughter and FAITH with me.
