May 11-12, 2005 Fort Worth Youth Ministers’ Retreat
May 16, 2005I was privileged to be asked to lead this experience for about 15 wonderful people.
First, I got to visit with some ministry buddies before the retreat- and that’s always a bonus for me. I had a wonderful chauffeur in Tammy (thanks for the gift snack bag!) and then I got to have supper and go to a Texas Rangers baseball game with 2 great guys–Kevin Prevou (who loves the Rangers ) and Bryan W. (who is not a baseball guy but was thrilled that we got on the “jumbotron” [scoreboard])
The retreat was at the Catholic Renewal Center (which has a really cool bookstore, has had Mother Teresa visit the center and has the neatest people working there!)
Our theme for the retreat was a “combo” –Sabbath (Rest and Renewal) and Rejoining Soul and Role.
I was so impressed by these good people who approach their ministry with intensity and a real concern for each other. I knew it was going to be interesting when the lunchtime conversation covered such topics as shooting a snake in the mouth (Deb!) and rolling over a mouse with a piano (Sue).
I’ve had groups participate before, but I was really touched by the high level I saw from them.
The evening was fun as we all played a game (Bryan W.) about “learning” about ourselves as well as one of my favorite games, “What were you thinking?” popular answers were: Vernon, Bob Mullins, and rhythmical.
Thank you to all of you for your work, and for sharing your joy ('’happy dance'’) and your relationships with me.
